Hedgerow privacy policy
Effective 13 September 2026
Hedgerow is a website blocker for Google Chrome. This policy explains what information it handles. The short version: Hedgerow does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal information. Everything it stores stays in your browser on your device.
Who we are
Hedgerow is made by Kehr & Co. LLC, a Georgia limited liability company (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@kehrandco.com.
What Hedgerow stores on your device
| Information | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| The list of sites you choose to block | To tell Chrome which sites to block | Your browser’s extension storage |
| Your schedule, focus session and pause times, and preferences such as theme | To know when blocking should be on | Your browser’s extension storage |
This information never leaves your device. We have no servers that receive it and no way to see it. Hedgerow doesn’t use Chrome Sync storage, so it isn’t copied to your Google account either. Uninstalling Hedgerow, or choosing “Erase everything” in its settings, deletes it.
What Hedgerow does not do
- It doesn’t read your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit.
- It keeps no record of the sites you visit, including visits to sites it blocks.
- It has no analytics, advertising, tracking, fingerprinting or crash-reporting code, and it loads no remote code.
- It doesn’t require an account and doesn’t ask for your name, email address or payment details.
- It doesn’t sell, rent or share information with anyone, because it doesn’t collect any.
How blocking works, and the permissions it uses
Hedgerow gives Chrome a list of sites through Chrome’s built-in blocking feature
(declarativeNetRequest). Chrome applies the list itself, so Hedgerow never sees your requests.
- Block content (
declarativeNetRequest): to block the sites on your list. - Storage: to keep your list and settings on your device.
- Alarms: to switch blocking on and off at the times you set.
- Active tab: when you open Hedgerow from the toolbar, to read the address of the tab you’re on so you can block it in one click. Nothing is read unless you click.
- Optional access to specific sites: only if you allow it, and only for sites on your block list, so Chrome can show Hedgerow’s own page instead of an error when you visit them. You can decline and blocking still works. Removing a site from your list removes this access.
Exports
If you export your settings, Hedgerow creates a file on your device containing your block list and preferences. What happens to that file afterwards is up to you.
Children
Hedgerow isn’t directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.
Future paid features
We may later offer optional paid features. If buying them ever requires sharing information (for example with a payment processor), we’ll update this policy before that feature launches, explain exactly what is shared and why, and nothing will change for people who don’t buy it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the effective date above and describe the change in the extension’s release notes. We won’t start collecting information without asking you first.
